Off The Chart: 1 March 1984

Off The Chart: 1 March 1984

Dydd Gwyl Dewi Hapus! Not much Welsh content on this week’s Off The Chart unfortunately, but we do have the usual dollop of obscure, forgotten and neglected hits from this week in 1984. We’ll top that off with sprinklings of the day’s news and events, tracks from three of the week’s new albums and, because there was no Welsh chart, we’ll have a look at the Dutch top ten as well, before returning home for tea, pancakes and the top five in full.

  • Which hit was twice voted the greatest TV theme of all time?
  • Whose latest single was considered a failure even though it was a top ten hit?
  • And who released the title track of his debut album two years after the album itself?

Tune in and find out!

Listen to Off The Chart on Noisebox Radio at 9pm every Tuesday! You can stream Noisebox Radio via their website, their apps for iOS or Android, or through TuneIn and MyTuner, or ask your smart speaker to “play Noisebox Radio” – and don’t forget to tweet along using the hashtag #OffTheChart. If you’re not around, you can hear the show again on Noisebox Radio at 10am on Friday, or catch up on Mixcloud after that.

We also have a Spotify playlist for our #ICEOTWF feature, including all (well, most) of the international hits we’ve played since the feature began in March 2017. There are all sorts of oddities in here, all of which were hits somewhere in the world but not in the UK!
