Off The Chart: 22 June 1986

If you can tear yourself away from The Football for a couple of hours, we’d like to take you back to this day in 1986 on Off The Chart! We can’t guarantee there won’t be any football related content, in fact there definitely will, but there’ll also be a cavalcade of obscure and forgotten hits, tracks from three of the week’s new albums, a round-up of the day’s events, a live track recorded on this very day, a World Cup-inspired look at the Mexican charts, and the top five singles in full. Phew.

  • Whose last hit of the decade fell short of the top thirty despite their eight previous top ten hits?
  • Who struggled into the top 75 with a cover of a ’60s song that was a massive hit for someone else two years later?
  • And which single sold the least copies on 12″ of any top twenty hit all year?

Tune in and find out!

Listen to Off The Chart on Mad Wasp Radio at 9pm every Tuesday! You can stream Mad Wasp Radio via their website, their apps for iOS or Android, or through TuneIn and MyTuner, or ask your smart speaker to “play Mad Wasp Radio” – and don’t forget to tweet along using the hashtag #OffTheChart. Spotify playlists

If you’ve missed a previous edition they’re all on our Mixcloud page, or for a taster of the music we play, listen to our Spotify playlist Way Off The Chart including one track from each show!

We also have a Spotify playlist for our #ICEOTWF feature, including all (well, most) of the international hits we’ve played since the feature began in March 2017. There are all sorts of oddities in here, all of which were hits somewhere in the world but not in the UK!
