Off The Chart: 21 September 1987

Off The Chart: 21 September 1987

We’ve crammed a surprising amount into this week’s Off The Chart, including a metric shedload of obscure, forgotten and overlooked hits from this day in 1987. We’ve also shoehorned in three of the week’s new albums, a round-up of the day’s events, a track from the Canadian chart and a song from a John Peel session broadcast on this day, and still somehow found room for all six songs in this week’s top five. Phew.

  • Who had top 40 hits with two different surnames, but not with a combination of the two?
  • Who got the original of a club classic into the top ten by talking over it?
  • And which iconic duo broke up because one of them had to go to Monaco for his day job?
