Off The Chart: 6 August 1987

Come back with us to this day in 1987 for another edition of Off The Chart! As always we’ll be playing some forgotten and half-remembered hits from the week’s UK singles chart, as well as tracks from three of the week’s new albums, a hit from the Australian chart and the top five singles in full. Who was enjoying his only top 40 hit as a solo artist after scoring 25 as lead singer of a band? Whose new video was so raunchy it was banned from kids’ TV by Timmy Mallett? And whose hit duet was turned down by both Barbra Streisand and Whitney Houston? Tune in and find out!

Listen to Off The Chart on Mad Wasp Radio at 9pm every Tuesday, or catch the repeats at 2pm on Thursday or 10am on Saturday. You can stream Mad Wasp Radio via their website, their apps for iOS or Android, or through TuneIn and MyTuner – and don’t forget to tweet along using the hashtag #OffTheChart. If you’re somehow not around for any of the radio broadcasts, catch up on Mixcloud from 4pm on Thursdays.
