Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark are set to continue their fortieth anniversary celebrations with the publication of a book detailing the history of the band.
Due for publication in November, Pretending To See The Future is described by the band as “the OMD story as it’s never been told before,” with contributions from group founders Andy McCluskey and Paul Humphries, additional members Martin Cooper, Malcolm Holmes and Stuart Kershaw, as well as numerous collaborators. Fans’ memories and anecdotes will also be a part of the book – submissions of “notable memories of seeing the band in concert” are still being accepted at omdbook@gmail.com.
The book is now available to pre-order via Pledge Music, priced at Β£35. Initial orders will be shipped with a bonus flexi disc including a previously unheard 1978 demo recording of Messages, the song which would go on to become OMD’s first top forty hit. This flexi disc will be exclusive to the book and will not be available elsewhere.
