Mel & Kim

Getting fresh again: Mel & Kim release new single

A new Mel & Kim single Where Is Love will be released in February, a full thirty years after the sisters’ last single release in 1988.

The duo of Mel and Kim Appleby enjoyed four Stock/Aitken/Waterman-produced top ten hits between 1986 and 1988, including the number one smash Respectable, as well as a top three album FLM, before their career was cut tragically short when Mel was diagnosed with cancer. After Mel’s death in 1990 at the age of just 23, Kim scored a further three top twenty hits in her own right, including the number two success Don’t Worry.

Due for release on 23 February, thirty years to the month after the last Mel & Kim single That’s The Way It Is, Where Is Love includes a number of new mixes of the previously unheard track. The single is already available to pre-order through PledgeMusic as a download, CD and limited collectors’ edition CD, the latter comprising four exclusive mixes in a 32-page hardback photo book. The download bundle is also available to pre-order on iTunes.

The first airing of the new track comes in the form of a remix by DJ Kissy Sell Out, which is available immediately on pre-ordering the full single. Kim describes this mix of the track as being “very current. I love the vibe and the fact that it takes us back to our clubland roots which is where it all started.”
