Fighting for themselves: Spandau reveal new singer; Tony Hadley announces tour

Spandau Ballet have revealed the identity of their new lead singer and announced their first UK live show since 2015, on the same day that former frontman Tony Hadley announced a solo UK tour.

Singer and actor Ross William Wild will step into Hadley’s shoes for a low-key Spandau show at London’s Subterania on 6 June. Tickets are scarce but you may still be able to grab the last ones from the band’s online store.

Described on his website as “a talented singer and actor with a trademark ‘edgy’ performance style”, Wild comes to Spandau Ballet from a musical theatre background, having starred in stage productions of Grease and We Will Rock You; he met Spandau guitarist Martin Kemp while performing as Elvis Presley in the Million Dollar Quartet UK tour in 2016. He also released an album Wild Tracks the same year.

Coincidentally – or perhaps not – the news comes on the same day that Tony Hadley announced a seven date UK tour in October, taking in Birmingham, Leicester, Bournemouth, Basingstoke, Manchester, London and Gateshead. Tickets for Tony’s tour went on sale today from his official website, while his new solo album Talking To The Moon is released next Friday (8 June).
