Not much to report on the album chart this week, which is just as well as nobody has bothered to update it on the Official Charts website, but the Jesus & Mary Chain enter at 16 with their first album in almost 20 years, Damage And Joy. Over on the physical singles chart, Blondie rocket 17 places to number 1 with Long Time while previous single Fun climbs back up 2 places to number 8.
In the shops this week, Fleetwood Mac’s 1987 album Tango in the Night is expanded to two CDs with 13 bonus tracks, or a deluxe box set with an extra CD of remixes, a DVD and a 180g vinyl pressing of the album. One More Time With Feeling, a film about the making of Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds’ Skeleton Tree album, is out on DVD and Blu-ray, while Deacon Blue’s Live at the Glasgow Barrowlands is out on vinyl or a 2CD + DVD set. The surprisingly prolific Wire release a new album Silver/Lead, Fischer-Z return with Building Bridges, and former Men At Work frontman Colin Hay has a new solo album Fierce Mercy. Continuing their recent series of vinyl reissues, the third Altered Images album Bite gets a 180g release with a bonus white vinyl 7″ coupling Don’t Talk To Me About Love and Love To Stay. Finally, in budget corner there are very reasonably priced 3CD compilations Wonderland – The Essential Big Country, Lessons In Love – The Essential Level 42 and Love & Affection – The Essential Joan Armatrading.
