The UK may have returned to the mid-’70s and the singles chart may be stagnating, but acts from the ’80s are still keeping the albums chart fresh. The new Red Hot Chili Peppers album The Getaway dรฉbuts at 2 this week, ahead of Rick Astley‘s 50 which drops to 3, while the band’s Greatest Hits holds steady at 19 and their 2002 set By The Way re-enters at 79. There’s also the curious case of Bob Marley & the Wailers‘ Legend which has become a legend in itself, back in the top thirty at 29 some thirty-two years after its release and spending its 726th week on the chart.
It’s another quiet week for new releases although the Pet Shop Boys bring out another single from their recent Super album: Twenty-Something is released today on CD and download with two new B-side tracks and a selection of remixes. A collection of early Bangles recordings Ladies and Gentlemen… the Bangles! is also out now while the Twelve Inch Eighties series of 3CD sets adds another two titles, Let’s Groove and Rhythm is Gonna Get You.
