An interesting week on the album chart which celebrates its 60th birthday today; as part of the celebrations lots of notable albums have been on special promotion this week and consequently feature strongly in this week’s chart. Bob Marley‘s Legend returns to the top ten at number 8 (on its 730th week on the chart) while ABBA Gold (on its 746th week) surges to number 30 and Queen‘s Greatest Hits (732 weeks) climbs to 39. There are also re-entries for Michael Jackson‘s Thriller (#66), Paul Simon‘s Graceland (#68) and Queen’s Greatest Hits II at #88.
Not many new releases this week while everyone’s looking backwards, but the unfortunately named Keith Sweat (best known for his 1988 hit I Want Her) unleashes a new album Dress To Impress and XTC‘s 1982 double album English Settlement receives a remastered reissue.
