Despite the hype the Stone Roses‘ comeback single All For One enters the charts at an underwhelming number 17, although it has reignited interest in dΓ©but album The Stone Roses which re-enters the album chart at 45, followed by The Very Best of the Stone Roses at 59 (you may be surprised to learn they’re not both identical). New Order‘s remix album Complete Music propels its parent Music Complete back into the chart at 32, while Prince continues to hog the listings with six entries in the chart: The Very Best Of (#7), The Hits 1 (#11), Purple Rain (#24), Sign o’ the Times (#46), 1999 (#70) and Ultimate Prince (#80).
New Releases
Adam and the Ants‘ breakthrough album Kings of the Wild Frontier gets another reissue in a variety of formats including double CD, heavyweight vinyl and a super deluxe box set including DVDs and a gold vinyl edition of the LP. The soundtrack of the film Sing Street includes tracks from Duran Duran, Motörhead, The Cure, Hall & Oates and The Jam, whose bassist Bruce Foxton releases a new solo set Smash the Clock with contributions from former bandmate Paul Weller. The Associates‘ Sulk, The Affectionate Punch and Fourth Drawer Down all receive expanded reissues, while Sharon Signs to Cherry Red rounds up forty-five tracks from female indie acts including Strawberry Switchblade, Mari Wilson and one-time Freeez vocalist Ingrid Mansfield-Allman.
