It’s a quiet week on the album chart with Lindsey Buckingham / Christine McVie being the only album by an ’80s related act to make any significant impact, entering at number 5. Neither party has troubled the top fifty with a solo album before, although they have of course enjoyed huge success as part of Fleetwood Mac, whose Greatest Hits re-enters the chart at 36. This is to the detriment of The Very Best of Fleetwood Mac which plummets from 56 to 94 this week, while the deathless Rumours climbs to 45 on its 683rd week on the chart.
It’s slim pickings on the new release front too this week, the big new release being Alison Moyet’s new set Other. Simple Minds’ Acoustic in Concert is out on DVD and Blu-ray, while Billy Mackenzie’s posthumous 1997 solo album Beyond the Sun gets a vinyl release. Everyone else seems to be on holiday.
