Thin Lizzy have a new album in the top ten this week! Although not exactly. New at number 6 is Heavy Fire by Black Star Riders, the band that grew out of the most recent touring line-up of Lizzy including guitarist Scott Gorham. Although they decided not to use the Lizzy name for their new material, the band’s classic sound is still very much in evidence and it’s not much of a stretch of the imagination to hear Phil Lynott singing these songs.
More David Bowie vinyl hits the shops this week with the release of a 40th anniversary 7″ picture disc of Sound and Vision and remastered vinyl issues of Diamond Dogs, Young Americans, Station To Station and David Live, plus CD and vinyl versions of Live Nassau Coliseum ’76. Live recordings seem to be in fashion this week as Def Leppard release a new live set And There Will Be A Next Time on DVD, Blu-ray and three disc CD/DVD set. Depeche Mode whet your appetite for next month’s new album with vinyl issues of Ultra, Exciter, Playing The Angel and Sounds Of The Universe. Finally Motörhead release a limited picture disc of their last album Bad Magic.
