Back to school: Morrissey announces new album and US shows

Morrissey returns to the fray on 17 November with a brand new album Low in High-School, preceded by live performances in the US including a date at the Hollywood Bowl one week earlier.

The new album will be Morrissey’s first since 2014’s World Peace Is None Of Your Business which reached number 2 in the UK chart despite Morrissey’s assertions that his then label Harvest Records failed to promote it properly. This turned into a full-blown spat between artist and label, culminating in his departure from Harvest and the removal of the album from digital services such as iTunes and Spotify.

Low in High-School will be released on Morrissey’s new label Etienne Records, in association with BMG. Korda Marshall of BMG described Morrissey as “an extraordinary talent,” adding “He is prodigious, literate, witty, elegant and above all, courageous.”

Recorded in Rome and and the south of France, Low in High-School sees Morrissey retain the production services of Joe Chiccarelli who produced World Peace… and whose CV also includes Frank Zappa, The Strokes and The Killers. The album will be available on CD, coloured vinyl and cassette as well as download.
