AC/DC’s Brian Johnson warned to quit touring

AC/DC have postponed the remaining dates of their current Rock or Bust US tour after lead singer Brian Johnson was warned that his hearing is at risk if he continues touring.

A statement on the band’s website confirms that Johnson “has been advised by doctors to stop touring immediately or risk total hearing loss.” Johnson has been AC/DC’s vocalist since 1980 when he replaced the late Bon Scott. The veteran rockers have endured a number of personnel problems in recent years, including the retirement of founding member Malcolm Young in 2014 and the arrest of former drummer Phil Rudd last year.

The band plans to reschedule the postponed dates for later in the year but will most likely perform with an as yet unspecified guest vocalist. Plans for the rest of the tour, scheduled to reach Europe in May and including dates in London and Manchester in June, have not yet been announced.
